About your teacher
A teacher who has lived the cultures she teaches
I am a TOEFL-certified English teacher, faculty at the State University of New York and a multilingual, multicultural educator immersed in American and Brazilian cultures, with teaching experience in the United States and Brazil.
I also speak Spanish: I lived in Mexico and worked in several Latin American countries. That changes the lesson — I know exactly where your native language holds your English back, because I have been on the other side.
Why one-to-one lessons
Large classes force everyone to move at the same pace. A one-to-one lesson moves at yours.
- The content starts from your professional and academic interests, not from a generic textbook.
- You speak throughout the whole lesson instead of waiting for your turn in a group.
- Correction is immediate and specific to the mistakes your native language tends to cause.
- Online lessons from wherever you are, with schedules arranged directly with me.
- A welcoming environment: you practice without fear of making mistakes, which is where learning happens.
- Preparation for proficiency exams, university admission and job interviews.
